Descriptions are pulled from the Entra ID description.
If you sign into Microsoft Entra ID and add a description there, Configuration Manager will sync that information into the app and update the description accordingly.
Edit description
You can edit the description in Configuration Manager. To do this, click on the three dots icon and select “Edit Description“.
- If the configuration item has a description field in the target service (Entra ID, SharePoint, Intune, etc.) the edited description in Configuration Manager will be deployed to your tenant. The changes will be automatically updated during the next Sync.
- If the configuration item has not a description field in the target service (Entra ID, SharePoint, Intune, etc.), the description will only be applied locally in Configuration Manager.

If you want, you can also apply the Configuration Manager template, which is a model to write your description by answering four questions. It's a suggested practice to follow the same description process.
