Auto refresh

  • Last update on October 15th, 2024

When enabled, auto refresh allows the Sync page to automatically update the status of the syncs. However, the high number of API calls could lead to potential throttling by Microsoft. This is why auto refresh could be turned off.

How does auto refresh work?

The Sync status (idle, error, pending approval, …) is pulled from the Azure DevOps backend.
An API call is made from Configuration Manager to Azure DevOps every 10 to 20 seconds to get the status of each tenant. For example, it checks if a tenant is still pending approval and updates the status accordingly.

Auto refresh is on by default and helps keep the Sync status up-to-date without manual intervention.

What happens if you turn auto refresh off?

If you turn it off, the status won't update automatically, and you'll need to refresh your browser to see the new statuses.

When Auto Refresh is off, manually refresh your browser to see the new status.

When is auto refresh turned off?

If you are idle on the Sync page for 30 minutes, auto refresh will be disabled to prevent excessive API calls to Azure DevOps. A pop-up will appear asking if you want to re-enable it.

Pop-up appearing informing you that Auto Refresh has been disabled.

This helps control the number of API calls and prevents potential throttling by Microsoft due to suspicious activity.
