This guide shows how, as a distributor, you can onboard and manage your MSPs' (referred to as “Partners” in the platform) subscriptions, including transitioning the status from TRIAL to PRODUCTION.
Note for resellers
Please note that this guide is intended for distributors. If you are a reseller, please contact your Channel Account Manager for an NFR/demo instance.
The process
The process works as follows:
- Add a new Partner to the Partner App.
- Your Partner receives a welcome email with a trial activation link.
- The Partner connects their Microsoft 365 tenant to activate the trial.
- The 14-day trial period for the Partner begins.
- Now, there are two options:
- Cancel the trial before completion.
- The subscription will be auto-activated from TRIAL to PRODUCTION.
Onboard a new Partner
The first step to onboard a Partner is to add the account to the PartnerApp. An email with an activation link will be sent to the Partner to start the TRIAL period.
Add a new Partner to the PartnerApp
To add a Partner, navigate to “Invoice”, then select “Partners”.
Use the “Add Partner” option, found under the “Action” menu on the “Partners” page.
When initiating the process, you need to provide the following information:
- Organization name: enter the name of the Partner’s organization.
- Notification email: specify the email address where the CoreView activation link will be sent.
Partner is provisioned with the following set of SKUs:
- Essentials MSP 2025
- Professional MSP 2025
and the add-ons:
- Delegation 2025
- Audit 2025
- Hybrid 2025
Once all the required details are entered, click the “Apply” button to create the Partner tenant and send the activation link to the specified email address.
Check the onboarding status
After you add a Partner using the “Add Partner” feature, an email with the trial activation link will be sent to the partner at the email address specified in the “Notification Email” field.
From the “Pending Partners” tab under the “Invoice” > “Partners” page, you can monitor the status of the onboarding.
Status of pending partners
The first two steps relate to the onboarding on the PartnerApp:
- CoreView Activation link sent – The activation link has been sent via email.
- Onboarding started – The partner has clicked on the activation link and started the onboarding process.
On the other hand, the following steps relate to the onboarding of the partner's tenant:
- Consent granted
- Management configuration
- Pre-import error
- Running import
- Import completed
Manage the Partner subscription
Once the Partner clicks on the activation link, they will enter a 14-day TRIAL period.
After the 14 days have passed, the Partner's account will automatically transition to PRODUCTION. Here’s what you can do to manage this transition period.
Converting a Partner to PRODUCTION status will initiate billing for that MSP's production tenants to the distributor.
Prevent the automatic upgrade
After the trial period, the account will automatically upgrade to PRODUCTION status. You'll be notified by email before this change occurs.
You can prevent the account from being automatically upgraded using the “Manage subscription upgrade” option.
- Navigate to “Invoice” > “Partners”.
- Select the partner whose subscription upgrade you would like to manage.
- Ensure that the “Subscription level” is set to TRIAL.
- Once the partner is selected, expand the “Actions” menu and select “Manage subscription upgrade”.
A drawer will open, allowing you to decide whether to keep the automatic upgrade set or to block it.
Extend the TRIAL period
By default, the Partner TRIAL period lasts 14 days. You can extend this period directly from the Partner page.
- Extensions are permitted only during the last 3 days of the TRIAL period.
- Extensions will add an additional 7 days to the TRIAL.
- Each trial can be extended only once.
Here are the steps to extend the TRIAL period:
- Navigate to “Invoice” > “Partners”
- Select the Partner by selecting the checkbox (the “Subscription level” field must equal “TRIAL”)
- From the “Actions” menu, choose “Extend trial”.
- In the panel that opens, you can extend the expiration date.
Manually convert a Partner from TRIAL to PRODUCTION
Partner trials can be manually transitioned to a full subscription at any time, even after the trial has expired.
To manually convert a Partner to a production account use the “Convert to production account” action.
Here are the steps to manually convert from TRIAL and PRODUCTION:
- Navigate to “Invoice” > “Partners”
- Select the Partner by selecting the checkbox (the “Subscription level” column must equal “TRIAL”)
- From the “Actions” menu, choose “Convert to production account”.
- In the panel that opens, change the “Subscription level” to “Production”.
By converting a Partner to a PRODUCTION account, you extend their access beyond the TRIAL period and grant them full access to CoreView's features and capabilities.
