License Pools: overview

  • Last update on July 8th, 2026

Please note that License Pools are recalculated every 30 minutes. Allow this time for any changes to be reflected in your License Pools.

The “License Pools” feature allows you to distribute licenses to segments of your business, such as departments or countries, and to delegate responsibility for managing those licenses to local administrators.

Note: when you assign a license, the change is immediately reflected in the License Pools. However, edits or removals of licenses may take up to 20 minutes to be processed.

By assigning a specific set of licenses to any of these groups, operators can allocate licenses to users without worrying about exceeding limits or budgets. Certain reports and features, such as “License Pools center” and “Restrict license assignment”, require License Pools to be configured.

A distinctive feature of License Pools is their automatic configuration. Unlike Virtual Tenants or permissions, which must be set up individually, License Pools are automatically created based on the property selected for the breakdown.

License Pools and operator roles

License Pools are linked to operator roles and permissions.

Tenant Admins and operators with a GlobalLicense role can manage license pool allocation. Operators without a GlobalLicense role who are assigned to a pool can assign licenses only within that pool’s boundaries.

In the “License Pools center”, operators without a GlobalLicense role who are assigned to a pool have read-only access for the selected License Pool.
