Virtual Tenants are not available in the Essentials and Professional solutions, but they can be purchased as an add-on.
Virtual Tenants provide organizations with a robust mechanism to manage their Microsoft 365 data. They enable the creation of specific boundaries that reflect the organizational structure, which is essential for task delegation and control. By defining these boundaries, an organization can determine the range of objects—such as users, groups, resources, and settings—that an operator can see and manage.
Key functionalities:
-
Create Virtual Tenants: this feature enables you to establish new Virtual Tenants from the ground up, customizing them to fit your organizational needs.
- Assign phone numbers to Virtual Tenants: if your setup includes the Teams Voice add-on, you'll find guidance on how to assign phone numbers to your Virtual Tenants.
- Import and export Virtual Tenants: easily transfer Virtual Tenant configurations using the .json file format for both importing and exporting data.
- Manage existing Virtual Tenants: update and maintain your existing Virtual Tenants.
- Delete selected Virtual Tenants: remove any Virtual Tenants that are no longer required.
Virtual Tenants are closely associated with operator roles and permissions. To understand the relationship and configuration options, refer to the Virtual Tenants and permissions article.
